Ancora agni. Nel VI,7,4 postato giorni fa agni dà l’immortalità agli dèi.
Nell’I,77,1 che ho tradotto qui addirittura li fa (kṛṇoti) ? li crea?
Si può tradurre in altro modo kṛṇoti?
La Jamison così lo traduce:
How should we do pious service to Agni? Which hymn enjoyable to the gods is spoken to him, the radiant— the one who, the immortal among mortals, the truthful Hotar, as the best sacrificer just does so [=sacrifices] to the gods?
Ed ecco come giustifica “il suo” kṛṇoti:
I.77.1: All tr. take the kṛṇóti in d as if it were ā́ kṛṇóti as in 2b, with the meaning “attract the gods hither.” But the ā́ √kṛ idiom in vs. 2 is medial, and there is no ā́ here. I prefer to take kṛṇóti as a dummy verb, standing for yájati, extracted from yájiṣṭhaḥ ‘best sacrificer’. Hence “does so,” that is “sacrifices.” This also helps account for the íd.
E in questo modo lo traduce invece il sito aurobindo.ru:
How [kathā] shall {we} give [dāśema] for Agni [agnaye], what [kā] word [gīḥ] acceptable by the gods [deva-juṣṭā ] is spoken [ucyate] for him [asmai ], for the shining [bhāmine], who [yaḥ] {is} in the mortals [martyeṣu] immortal [amṛtaḥ] possessing the Truth [ṛta-vā], priest calling {the gods} [hotā], most powerful for sacrifice [yajiṣṭhaḥ], {who}, indeed [ it ], forms [kṛṇoti ] the gods [devān ]?
